July 31: 5th Place at GP Mortagua in Portugal

June 30: Unable to start Trofeu Joaquim Agostinho in Portugal

My first race with my new team was to be Trofeu Joaquim Agostinho in Portugal starting tomorrow. However I will not be at the start thanks to my previous team not submitting the requisite paperwork. Since June 6, they have assured me of sending the paperwork in, but I have confirmation to the contrary from the national federations and the UCI. It prevented me from racing earlier in June in my own hometown, and now 4 weeks later it’s still preventing me from signing for another team.
There is no possible reason for this other than the obvious. It’s damaging to my career and I hope the sponsors take good note.

June 5: Leaving Java-Kiwi Atlantico

This past week I made the difficult decision to leave my team Java Kiwi Atlántico. It was a very difficult decision but in the end I have to do what is best for my career.

I’m very grateful to the team for all the experiences and opportunities they afforded me these last months. I want to say a big thank you to everyone involved -- all the staff and their families, the riders, and the sponsors and supporters. It’s a truly great group of people and I enjoyed meeting each of you and wish you all the best for the future.

As I turn the page and start a new chapter I’m excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. I’ll let you know about where I’m transferring and my upcoming plans in the coming days.

April 29: Broken rear wheel puts an end to Vuelta Asturias on Stage 1

First time in my career coming to the finish line in the back of a car and without a doubt the last time.

March 13: All day up the road at Classica Arrabida in Portugal

120+ km out front in the wind and over some tough little hills complete with sterrato portugués. Finally caught with 25k to go by what was left of the peloton. Helped out our two sprinters and then cruised in with the bunch, and Xavi Canellas finished off a solid day for the team with 10th in the sprint.

January 23: 2022 season underway with debut at Classica Comunitat Valenciana

2021:

November 11: Barry Miller signs with Java Kiwi-Atlantico for 2022 season

I’m very grateful to Java Kiwi Atlántico and Enrique Salgueiro for the opportunity to return to the European pro peloton in some of the biggest races in the world for 2022. A huge thank you to Lasal Cocinas-Lourina Cycling Team for allowing me to end a complicated 2021 season in the best possible way — without you I wouldn’t be here.

September 24: Barry Miller hit by car while training

On Monday I was out for an easy ride when a car coming from the other direction crossed into my lane and turned left directly in front of me like I wasn’t even there. I’m very lucky that nothing appears to be broken and I was finally able to leave the hospital yesterday afternoon, however my season is over and I will have a long road back to recover.

Really disappointing to end things in this way after finally getting back to racing and with a number of events still to come. After many months of hard work my form was maybe the best it’s ever been. Just the day before on Sunday I hit the highest 5- and 10-min numbers I’ve ever produced when I broke away up the final day’s climb.

On the positive side I am without words for all of the kindness and support from my team. From the many nice messages to all the visits, to sneaking me food 🍔🤣 it’s been nothing short of humbling and I can say that wherever the future takes us we will remain friends for life ❤️🙏 Also want to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Hospital Nuestra Señora de Fátima for taking such good care of me 🙏

I’ve overcome plenty of obstacles in my life and this is just another bump in the road. I have big things planned for 2022 and I won’t be letting this get in my way.

September 19th: Volta Galicia concludes with an 8th place on the Queen Stage

We put all our chips on the table and bet on the final stage’s final big climb to decide the GC at this year’s Volta Galicia. Unfortunately an early break caught everyone off-guard and it would stay away to the finish. The team took absolutely incredible care of me and delivered me to the foot of the final climb in great shape. I made some tactical errors and waited too late to make my move, finally breaking away from what was left of the peloton with ~3km to go and crossing the summit in 4th position, 30-40 seconds from the remnants of the break. Unfortunately I couldn’t catch them on the descent and was caught by a few others from behind to eventually finish 8th on the stage for 13th overall. Disappointing as I produced some of the highest numbers of my life today and was clearly the best climber in the race all week, but that’s bike racing. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

A huge thank you to the entire Lasal Cocinas-Lourina Cycling Team organization - teammates, directors, support staff, sponsors, and fans. It has been a truly wonderful and restorative experience to race with such a wonderful group in such a supportive and professional environment. Fortunately we’re not done yet! More races to come next weekend near Madrid!

September 16th: Barry Miller top-10 in Volta Galicia opening time trial

A surprising 8th place in this afternoon’s individual time trial to kick off the hardest stage race in Spain.

September 11: Barry Miller top-10 on debut in Spain

Happy to say I scored a 9th place in yesterday’s Spanish National Calendar race, “La Nocturna,” held in the team’s home of O Porrino.

September 9: Barry Miller signs with Lasal Cocinas-Lourina Cycling Team

After a series of near misses with Continental teams over the last months, I’ve signed on with the Galician team Lasal Cocinas-Lourina to wrap up the season with a series of races in Spain. I’m beyond grateful to the team for this opportunity and look forward to pinning on a number soon.

March 18: Barry Miller Terminates Contract with Cambodia Cycling Academy

Effective March 18, I have terminated my contract with the team Cambodia Cycling Academy, since it has still been unable to secure its Continental license from the UCI.

I look forward to pinning on a number with CCN Metalac-Sunbelt hopefully as soon as next weekend in Slovenia, and with the continued support of Fluxos Wheels.

On a personal level this has been a very difficult decision and probably spells the end of career for me as a professional, but things cannot continue as they have been these past months. It’s not possible to perform under conditions like these, not only as an athlete but more importantly as a human being. I hope that by taking one step back it will allow me to take two steps forward in the future.

Feb. 15: Recovery in France

I’m currently recovering from my crash in France since I am not able to walk without crutches, making it difficult to travel home to Spain. The team’s UCI license still has not been issued so for the moment everything is up in the air and I don’t know when the next race will be.

Feb. 6: Etoile de Besseges ends with ambulance ride

Unfortunately I crashed out of the Stage 3 at Etoile de Besseges and was removed from the course by ambulance after suffering a heavy fall and concussion. A major disappointment after making the lead group on a day when the big boys came out to test their form. Fortunately scans at the hospital showed nothing broken as had initially been feared.

Jan 30: No GP La Marseillaise

After meeting my team for training camp on January 25, I learned that the UCI has not yet issued our team’s Continental license and therefore we will not be able to take the start of GP La Marseillaise.

Jan 12: Barry Miller re-signs with UCI Continental Team - Cambodia Cycling Academy for the 2021 season

On January 11 I signed a contract with CCA and will return for the 2021 season. I will join the team for a week-long training camp in France’s Cevennes mountains on January 18 ahead of our racing debut at GP La Marseillaise on January 31, followed by Etoile de Besseges and then the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var which is my first major objective for 2021.

2020:

Barry Miller signs with UCI Continental Team - Cambodia Cycling Academy for 2020

After a stressful off-season I am happy to report I reached an agreement with Cambodia Cycling Academy and officially signed on at the end of January. The team is officially registered in Cambodia with the noble desire to develop Cambodian cyclists and elevate the sport nationally. At the same time, the team has a strong French presence, with both management and team base in the Occitanie region of southern France. I am very excited to be returning to racing in Europe at the UCI level once again, and I thank CCA for the opportunity and look forward to tackling a beautiful race schedule across Europe and Asia.
